Training a new camera op today and he pulled me aside in the middle of the shoot to tell me he was noticing a black halo around the subject ton stage. It was during a shoot so there was not a lot to be done, I took it back to the studio and sure enough there is a black halo around the subject's head. I have never seent his before, it did not show up with the HPX300 (the main camera at the shoot). The HPX170 was at 720/60i. we white balanced because there was a mixture of 5600k and 3200k light. He originally had the camera on auto iris but I had him switch over to manual. He switched from a shutter of 1/60 to off. Everything he did kept the halo. The only way to get rid of it was to zoom back to a medium shot.
Any ideas on what caused this? If I missed any needed info I will supply it.
