Black bars in Premiere with 720p footage

I'm using Premiere Pro CS5, and when I use the DVCPROHD 720p 24p preset, I get this sort of letter-boxing, and I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.

Anyone able to point me in the right direction, as I've not been able to find any mention of this anywhere.

looks horizontally squished, which is pillar boxing. may have to do with pixel aspect...

I'm a bit confused as to why there would be a pixel aspect issue. I made sure that the sequence size in Premiere is 960 x 720 and the pixel aspect is set to 1.5.

The problem I am running into is that once I've selected a preset in Premiere, it doesn't really let me alter the settings. So I can't change the pixel aspect, or the resolution.

You'll have to excuse my ignorance, I'm fairly new at editing.

I'm sorry if I am violating some sort of forum guideline, but I am at wits end. I've been searching all day long for a solution.

What prompted me to post again is the fact that while searching Google for this problem, one of FOUR results was this exact thread.

So, if someone can PLEASE help, I would be really appreciative, cause at this point I'm about ready to rip out my hair.

so, did that solve your problem? or are you banging your head from ongoing frustration?

Ongoing frustration unfortunately, but while banging my head on the wall, I thought of something.

The footage was originally downloaded from the camera on a Mac with FCP, so all of the files have .mov extensions.

I went and grabbed as much footage as was left on the camera and imported it directly onto my PC in mxf format, and it works great.

Now I wonder if I can salvage the footage that's already been imported on the mac, but deleted from the camera...
