Black balance ?

The other day I was setting my White balance and I accidentally held the AWB button too long and ended up setting the black balance.
When I reset the Black balance , do I hold a black sheet of paper in front of the camera as in doing the white balance . then hold the AWB until ABB is seen.
I have noticed after accidentally resetting the black my colour has changed . When I zoom into a small pond then started to video , the colour looks good, but when I slowly zoom out the colour slowly darkens up . this never happened before , the colour always remained the same .
Thanks for the help ..........Ian

No you don't hold up black paper as the iris should automatically close down when black balance is performed. Some people only do it once when they first get their camera. Others will do it at the beginning of each day of a shoot.

What would indicate actually ever needing to do a black balance? "A poor black balance usually shows as unnatural or incorrect colours in the dark areas of the picture."

Thanks Guys . i always search before i post , some how i missed 2 post on Black Balance ....Ian
