Black balance error

A television production crew just bought 2 new AF100's and right out of the box one has issues.
They were performing a black balance and now the camera is stuck in shutter closed black balance.
They called me for help, and I did everything I could to help to no avail. I rented them my camera to get them through production, but was wondering if anyone has experienced the same issue?

Never. I black balance all the time. I'm guessing they purchased these on line? I would not try to fix but get the seller to overnight a replacement. That camera is defective. Good for them you had yours available.
 
Yes they are sending a loaner while theirs goes off for repair.
I could see the shutter stuck in the closed position behind the filter wheel but could not get it to release.
Very odd!
