I did it in post for the most part, except when I used a Cokin / Ilford SFX filter for Infra-Red (It works, but needs a LOT of light).
Thinking back, a Wratten 11 filter would be a good place to start, or a 15 perhaps. I would avoid the reds, 23, 25, 29 unless you have a lot of light and are after extreem effects.

Dave
With hindsight I would probably treat it as if I were shooting B&W film, and use a suitable filter, then convert to greyscale in post. I edit in Avid XPro, and I did try using the RGB sliders in colour effect, then desaturating in Colour Correction. It worked, but was hard to visualise as I had to render the Colour Effect first, then desaturate, a bit hit-or-mis. I ended up just doing a desaturate, which I could see on the monitor . It worked, but was not as I really wanted.
Do you have a Matt-Box? If so use Lee drop in 100mm polyester filters, else you will need more expensive screww-ins, not available in as many wratten Nos as the Squares. The 11 is a light yellow-green, 15 is minus blue. I think primary green is Wratten 58, but don't quote me on that one!
