Bitrates and quality in VFR vs standard modes. 30p vs 30fps VFR

So here's something I've been pondering. Assuming using PH mode for everything here.

Does the AF-100 use the same bitrate for both 24p and 30p? If so, logically shooting 24p should result in a better picture no? Technically, a higher bitrate per "frame" so to speak right?

So...I shoot a lot of 30p for slo-mo in 24p. I know that bitrates get "cranked" a little when shooting in VFR mode. So would it make more sense to shoot 30fps in VFR for 24p over shooting in standard 30p and conforming? I know I would lose audio, but hey.

Why don't you shoot a 10 second clip at each setting and compare the resulting file sizes? Then compare the resulting footage and see if you can in fact see any difference?
