Birds feeding slo-mo

Shot this to test 60p>24p slo-mo. The feeder doesnt really have any light that hits it directly so the footage is flat and dull not to mention i was shooting thru a sliding glass door that hasnt had a thorough cleaning all winter. The majority of the footage was slowed even more in the timeline by 50%. The last 2 clips of the chickadee are the normal 60p to 24p slo-mo.

A bit scary. Birds do not normally creep me out, but the music really did it. The 24fps did look a bit choppy. Otherwise, very nice!

choppiness could be your comp or connection. plays really smooth for me all though on my aging iBook all flash based videos look choppy ans wont play smooth.

thanks! yeah no problems with the transcode of 60p in toast that i know of. this was the first lengthy test and shooting i have done in that mode. So far the only probalems I have had was the transcoding of 720/30p where it speeds up the audio. i did a small test and was able to transcode 1080/30p with no problems but this was a quick test. I have yet to shoot anything in 1080 and I'm still experimenting with the camera.

great...I'm shooting some snowboarding this weekend and really wanting to try some slo-mo stuff...am I correct in assuming that you just transcoded in toast>put it on your timeline(FC in my case FCE)>slowed it in post?

hey just checked out "brainwrapmovie" site, cool-the ashtray looks like something straight off my grandmothers coffee table (circa 1976ish), right next to the TV Guide with a picture of Rockford Files...Ha

haha thanks love the Rockford Files and all things 70's! anyway i havent tried just dropping the 60p file into the 24p time line but i think it should work fine. I used Cinema Tools which is part of FCS and conform the file to 24p which instantly makes it slo-mo then dropped it into the timeline. The only reason I did it that way was thats what I've read other users doing. I think the only issue with just dropping into a 24p time line is that it may require rendering?? Maybe some one will chime in on this?

I did however slow the speed down even more in the timeline which seemed to work great. If I were you I would just do a quick test to see what works for you in FCE.

Beautiful. I amazed how the movement of the wigs can be seen pretty well.
This camera just keeps amazing me more and more.
