Billy Mays RIP

A 9 year old kid told me it was because he smelled too much OxiClean.

Pitchmen was fun. Billy's beard inspired my own. RIP.

I don't care what anybody says... (this isn't the first place I said this)... I liked Billy Mays. My brother and I imitate him all the time... not like he's James Bond or something... but he was just funny, in a good way. It's impressive that a regular guy could carve out a niche for himself like that.

I don't care what you say... and no, this isn't a joke... that guy was talented at what he did.

Me again... You guys want to hear something really crazy?

I know this guy... also... I seriously think, 50... well... about a week ago he was struck by lightening IN BED... through the window! We were all blown away by the news, but he seemed to be fine... I just talked to him on Thursday (I believe... or Friday)... for about 20 minutes on the phone... guy sounded fine...

Well... earlier tonight I was told that he was found dead... I almost couldn't believe it... I'm still processing the news.

These RIP threads are crazy... I feel sorry for everybody that has to deal with this stuff on a personal level (not asking/wanting ANY sympathy here... just saying... crazy).

This is HOURS fresh...

I didn't want to side-track the thread... and this is/was just a regular guy that I know... I have zero details so far... wasn't sure it was worth it's own thread since... well... you guys don't know him and I don't have that much to say about it... other then how crazy it is... you just never know... I never thought I'd make 30... and it took me nearly 6 years to get over the idea that I would one day be an old man... and lately all I can think again, is that I probably won't make it that long... I take too many risks, and on top of that (getting back to the topic of the thread, and why I posted about this other guy)... death can take you without warning in the middle of the night.

Getting back to Mays... not everybody is honored to leave the absolute most admirable mark on the world... we can't all be Jonas Salk (or whoever you like)... but I hope that when it's all said and done I'll have been more then a split-second blip on the radar of more then a few lives.

I guess that's what I'm thinking about with Mays... As it's reported, he was a really good guy... and if you have any celebrities in your family you know how they become THE guy everybody looks up to... so it's just a bummer for the family to have to deal with premature death... 50 is still too young to go... that's just getting to your prime-time years of passing on experience and sharing all forms of your life's wisdom regarding relationships, friendships, finances... the lessons of success and failure...

It's not like I'm taking the Mays thing hard here... but it's funny how my brother (also turning 50 next year) and I joke about this guy all the time. He's a staple of our comedic repertoire... I always enjoyed seeing a new commercial from that guy. They were like an extra-cheesy pizza... and for the target market... there was nothing wrong with that.

I was never able to listen to an entire spot he did as he always insisted on yelling into the mic. I assumed he just spoke that way till pitchmen came out. Weird. He'd talk normal UNTIL Miced then he'd start yelling again. His audio guy really should have explained ther principal of a microphone to him. Shame about the crash landing that lead to what happened. St. Peter is a busy man lately. I se a campfire in the next life with a loud pitch man, a pin up girl, a moon-walkin' fool and a loud laugh from Ed.

him and the ShamWow guy, I didn't mind watching. He always reminded me of Bob Vela with extra pep.
RIP
