Billy Bob is loco!

The DJ should have done some homework. That's what irritated him. He doesn't like the Boxmasters mixed up with his acting career...which he never really wanted to begin with. They are a fun band to watch. He's totally in the moment up there on stage.
I got to shoot em in nashville not long ago. You can see em toward the end of this piece:

I'm listening to it right now.

Billy Bob sounds like an idiot during the interview. Total take my ball and go home attitude. It's not like his audience doesn't know who he is and it's not like his name doesn't help promote the band and get him on tour with Willie Nelson.

Jian Ghomeshi is one of the more respect music DJ guys we have up here, he's not some idiot trying to stir something up, it was a legitimate question. His show on CBC radio is great.

well that's the first time I have ever seen him but I thought his questions were horribly off broadway. When he saw he had touched a nerve, he should have backed away from that topic or got him off the chair fightin'. He just stumbled around not really knowing what to do, maming the whole thing more awkward than entertaining.
You can't grab an artist off the road at 6am, regurgitate stale topics and expect enthusiastic responses.

Yeah, Billy Bob has absolutely no responsibility to be likable.

Why is he so damn touchy? Rhetorical question, Woodcock!

lol
it was easrly, he was fussy and dude just wasn't helpin a brother out.
good daze and bad daze, I reckin.
Still wanna piss celebs off, ask em what everybody does.
I remeber the first time I interviewed Dale Dr, 4 different people at 4 different times told me not to ask him about is Dad or his likeness to him. lol
wtf would I ask him about an old dead guy?

but with mischief now planted by his peeps, of course I had to bust out with "so how hard is it to fill your dads shoes?!"
bwahahhahahaha

Whatever. Billy bob is acting like a giant douche. The only reason his band is even on the radio is because he is a famous actor. They might be good, but be serious...

The one pet peeve I have about celebrities is when they get pissed off at being famous. When that is exactly the thing that makes them rich.

If he was really so concerned, why not take his name off the band altogether and not even come to the interview? if he really wants to let them make it on their own merit why show up at all. Stupid **** didn't even play?

What a douche.

The band was originally call Billy Bob and The Thorntons.

I heard the band members each wear a necklace with a tiny vial on it... and inside that vial is a goulash of each member's bodily fluids.

I'm halfway through it ... so painful / embarrassing already.

Guy did do his research though - knew that Billy Bob had pro ball aspirations for example.\

EDIT: Just finished watching.

Oof. Painful. But not as bad as I thought from the thread title. The guy was told not to ask questions about the acting career and he didn't. Seems like he was going out of his way to contextualize the band as a legitimate passion or interest for Thornton. No you wouldn't say that music was Petty's first love because it's obvious he's passionate about music since he's spent his whole life doing it. Yes you might ask Petty if he was passionate about acting or comment that he'd always intended to do that if he started acting. The guy totally didn't focus on Thornton's acting career just used it to contextualize and even went out of his way to build up the music part.

Don't think Billy Bob was on anything either. He was being difficult, then once they pseudo cleared the air he was suddenly lucid and on point.

Anyone see the messages on the screen from the engineers/producers? LOL!!!

But it wasn't that bad.

I didn't find it to be a big deal. He was obviously peeved about the introduction and decided to make a point of it. The Willy Nelson questions weren't needed either, they were there to talk about the band, not other stuff.

I'm not defending him or saying that was the proper way to handle it, but I can understand it from the pov that he probably felt his time was being wasted and chose to handle it the way he did.

I saw him on The Actors Studio T.V show and he really enjoyed himself. Besides he's in the middle of a tour and if he's travelling by tour bus, he's probably a little burnt and edgy anyways.

I don't think any less of him after seeing this. Just a guy that was having a bad day and the whole world gets to see it played over and over again.

Someone once said to me, "ya know, I didn't like you before because you never talked much, until I learned how to talk to you."
So I can sort of get Billy Bob. He just wasn't connecting with the host. Stuff happens, no biggee.

The host did nothing but try to talk about the band. He asked questions directly related to the band, the tour, their ambition, etc....

Billy Bob behaved like a child.

The more this behaviour becomes acceptable from stars the more we'll see it.
The rest of the band who is also tired and weary from being on the road behaved like adults.

They looked embarrassed for him.

The interview was strictly about the band and that wasn't good enough for him.

:crybaby::crybaby::crybaby:

Poor baby.

Really? He seemed slow, glassy eyed and out of it for most of the interview for me, and towards the end started blinking erratically. Here he is more lucid talking to Fox Searchlab, although still a little nutty (but in a good way)--

BTW, those Fox Searchlab lectures are great...others to watch are Ridley Scott's and Michael Kahn's.

well it was obvious to me that they had a lil tiff before the interview started and the host was aiming at button pushing. This is only confirmed by the producers having him prod him more and offering a standby should he bail.
I understand entertainment and controversy go hand in hand but when a guy takes time out of his wee early morning to give you some ratings, humbleness and thanks are in order in my book. It was as easy as being cool if he wanted warm reception in the interview.

Aside from mentioning that he was an actor during the intro the Host did nothing but talk about the band. That should be enough.

As if we're in a world where we are going to "pretend" that he's not an actor. If he was anybody else he wouldn't even be able to request something like that. Yet during the interview he tried to act like he was just a normal Joe. Which is it?

A star with special interviewing guidelines or a regular band member?

He better stop comparing himself to Tom Petty as well. Who the hell does he think he is??

I'll tell you.... one giant EGO.

His band looked embarrassed. That says it all for me. They know him best and they were embarrassed by him.
