Biggest drawbacks of HPX171

why can SLR cameras attach these lenses more easily than video cameras? Is there some fundamental difference between them that makes a video camera not suitable for these lenses?
for the same reason that microwave ovens arent easilly installed in cars. they arent meant to. but in the case of 35mm adapters, a number of creative folks thought that it would be a good idea and figured a way to make it happen.

the folks over at red may have a solution for you. have you heard of their upcoming scarlet camera?

Indeed I have and I have been struggling between waiting for scarlet and buying HPX171 for a while now. The problem is I really don't know if I can wait for scarlet since I desperately need a better camera pretty soon. From what I understand Scarlet is coming out earliest during the autumn and even then you might need to wait some more before they actually have enough of those to sell for everyone..?

yeah. im interested in the scarlet as well, but it really comes down to a business decision. im betting it will be the better part of a year before the average joe can actually get a scarlet in hand. if you are making money shooting video you could pay off a new 170 AND make more than enough for a scarlet by the time they actually become realistically avaliable.

or, if it suits you. just rent cameras a you need them.
