GH3 Big Rival from 70D?!?!

GH3 does 50mbps and has 1080 60fps, that to me is more important than any feature on this new camera.

The only competition for the GH3 is 5D Mark III and now the 5d with the Hack appears to be superior. Hopefully GH3 hack is coming and will even the playing field.

What's missing with the 70D...

- Headphone jack
- 1080 60p recording
- 50 Mbps IBP recording ( 70D tops out at 31 Mbps IBP, though it has 91 Mbps All-I frame mode like the 5D Mk3 )

Hopefully Canon has cured the softness and moire issues of the 7D / 60D / T2i / T3i / T4i / T5i series of cameras. ( competition is the best way to force manufacturers to improve their products )

Engadget Hands On Preview "During our test with a pre-production sample, the device performed phenomenally, adjusting focus instantaneously when snapping stills, and quickly but gradually when recording video."

...Which makes me wonder if Canon's new AF tech will outperform the GH3 in video mode ?

Can wait to see some head to head tests with this new camera in September!

It's a crime not to have 1080 60p on a video shooting camera in 2013. Not to mention a headphone jack. I refuse to support Canon any longer. It's amazing as a company they could be so arrogant in that they feel their product is so good that the consumer will sacrifice what should be standard features in any dslr in this stage of the game. shame on you Canon. I can only pray the public will shun this camera.

Canon C300 $14K does not do 1080 60fps. Either Panasonic is on to something or Canon must be fooling the world and getting away with it...................

Looks real nice unless you want to monitor your audio, or shoot 1080p60, or record over 30 minutes, or travel with two fast pro zooms each no bigger than a can of Coke...

Yes, I agree. I think the 70D is a strong contentder, regardless of the lack of 1080 60fps. I just can't believe they left out a headphone jack. I guess perhaps the title should have been "strong contender for the GH2." LOL

In any case, I mostly shoot 24fps, but occasionally use 60fps for slo-mo, so I can't say I have never used 1080 60fps. That being said, that would not be a make or break situation for me like not having a headphone jack.

I must say, though, that Canon here exhibits GENIUS in marketing and their share over the marketplace. If USA Today and other common outlets are running stories that sell this as a "camcorder-like" video recorder, it doesn't matter if it is true or not. It is press.
