Big problems with 720/60p and Vegas 8 pro... Posting video, any ideas?

Slap some Beastie Boys music on there and you got a music video.

I'm also shooting 720/60P. I saw this as well. But only when opening and encoding the native files within Vegas. I too was concerned. But when I sent the same clip through Neo Scene first, then opened it in Vegas, it was fine.

That is a known problem with Vegas. Hopefully vers. 9 has fixed it, but we won't know until it comes out in a few weeks. There wasn't any mention of avchd tweeks or fixes in the anouncement. If you do a search on 720/60p you will find older posts about this problem. As Dirk said, transcoding is the only solution so far. I believe some folks have had intermittent success in Vegas, but most don't. I didn't.

I had a similar problem sending 720/24p footage out of Premiere CS4 using the Apple TV 720p preset - it looked a lot like that (the first few frames were green). Very odd - I fixed it by using a different preset, I think it was generically named "H.264 720p".

It's file names are simply extensions of your original file names.

So file #0008 in the AVCHD folder becomes #0008-001 coming out of Neo Scene.

I used Proxy Stream 1.0b to create Sony YUV avi's as intermediates. Not only does this solve the 60p issue, but it's also easier to edit. Just be prepared for much larger file sizes.

I got the proxy script here.... sony.vegas.1.free.fr/
(4th one down)

Unzip the file into:
C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 8.0\Script Menu

To run the script:
Menu Tools > Scripting > Proxy Stream

VP8.0c needed.

This whole video was shot 60p and slowed 50% in Vegas 8.0c

It may not be everyones bag, so be prepared. It was just a test.

I have never seen this haha. Are all of your project render settings correctly encoding it to the timeline? The only thing I could think of is that your project wants to read it as a different frame rate. other than that I have no idea

haha. No problem man. I can't really take credit though, it all came from the Sony Vegas forum. Tons of help there. I'm just spreadin' what I've learned and use.

Thanks for sharing... This is exactly what I was looking for.

What export settings were best when using the 720/60p footage ?

The only thing I've actually used 60p for so far is overcranking.

Click on HD.

I put everything on a 24p (23.97) timeline. Footage is both 24p and 60p. 60p is slowed to .4 (40%) for slowmo. I rendered MainConcept AVC, Best, 23.97, progressive, 1280x720, 20Mbps, etc. Pretty standard stuff.
