Big Problem!!

TOMORROW

i am on the last day of a documentary shoot and my camera makes a crazy noise as soon as i turn it on. the noise is similar to that of a tape rewinding and you can feel the camera body vibrate. it will stop sometimes if i point the lens directly at the ceiling, but only during that time and as soon as i bring it back down it kicks up again. it started a couple of days ago and i could solve the problem by turning it off and on again, but it has gotten worse and that no longer is a quick fix. i was hoping someone might be able to help me out....any ideas??? thanks.

Try changing tapes.
Is this this the tape drive mechanism or some other motior?

You may have to send it in while still under warranty.

i don't think its the tape drive mechanism....i've changed tapes and nothing has changed. i also have been able to record during this time. thanks again.

thanks for the advice...it turns out that it must have had something to do with the focus because the noise stopped and now everything is out of focus. thanks again.

There's a switch on the saide of the camera to enable/disable the focus. Try switching that.
Also make sure your hand or other mechanism isn't fighting the focus.
Same with the zoom which has a manual switch on the front.
