Big Problem with playback

If i shuttle around my clips in either the source window or record window, it is at a good brightness level. Yet when i click "play" it get really dark and you can hardly see the footage. I want to be able to see my footage when it is being played. I am cutting on a 23.97 timeline and all my footage was shot in 24pa with the pulldown removed. For that reason i don't think i can output to a ntsc monitor without a mojo (if i understand correctly). Please help me find a solution so i can view my footage while it is being played. thank you

This has come up several times before if you search the archive. The issue is with the nVidea card having two settings - one for the monitor when at rest, then the video overlay which is used for the playback.

This is a know issue and is covered in the Avid Knowledge base. I have posted the Avid PDF on this on my site:

i have disabled that service and changed my settings but the problem is still there. It sill gets darker when i play the clips

Then you need to keep adjusting the overlay controls for your graphics card. You also need to make sure that the card itself is properly calibrated in order to match the overlay.

You can get very close, but it will never be exactly the same because the signal from each state go through two different pipelines.

The ATI graphics card does not have this issue.
