big job lost - formatted SD card. all files gone!

Hello everyone, let´s see if you could help me out here.

I have accidentally formmated a 16GB SD card and i have taken 4 photographs right after. Then i realized that card had not been backed up so i took it off to see if I could recover the files in it (aprox 10-12Gb of video files). This is an important job and it wouldn´t be very funny to lose it.

This is not the first time I had to recover damaged hard drives or formatted... But the problem I´m facing now is that I am able to find several GBs of lost data BUT from a previous session (3 weeks ago), but not a single one from yesterday!
Having taken 4 photographs i could assume a loss of bout 5-10% of the data but where is the rest?

I´ve tried 6 recovery data programs already, and none of them are able find what i want (the ones from yesterday).

Has anyone gone through this same exact problem?

yea.. nasty

I've had problems with corrupt files twice and used different programs to recover. if my memory serves me .. when you format a card (or hard drive) you simply delete the directory information (not the data) so all your data should be available apart from what's been overwritten by the photo's. are you using the card in a different camera with a different directory structure?

all I can really say is keep trying different utilities - I use cardrecovery, pandora & recover my photo's

P.S. your showreel link isn't working

I might have some luck right now. Copying files.. we´ll see.

What´s wrong with my reel? It works here.

The link on the word 'here' doesn't work.

BTW, I checked your stuff out on the Vimeo links. You probably here this all the time, but I love it. If you're ever in need of a 3ds Max particles, After Effects, storyboarding by hand or with FrameForge, or just a B GH2 cam in the L.A. area, I'd gladly lend my services for free.

oh wow, would you mind send me a link to your works in a PM or something?

Problem solved!!! Disk doctors photo recovery was the only one to be able to find and save the files!!!!!

Still a few weeks off from completing my post-college reel. I'm working on a Cloverfield-like shot of Cthulhu attacking the NoHo 14 and a volcano sprouting out of the Verdugo Mountains along with trying to get a martial arts duo together to choreograph my first fight scene.

perhaps a re-thing or reorganization of your workflow is in order. I had a few close calls with camera data. I ordered more cards reorganized them in cases and numberd cards and now have a strict on set workflow. I also carry a netbook in my shooting bag for last minute off loads on set and have had no problems since.
