I created a small trailer but the size of the file is 300mb. Can somebody tell me a better way to render it? I am using Vagas 6.
The file type is avi.sfl. I used the NTSC DV template.
I was browsing this forum that I found from some folks over at FXHome.com, and though I'm personally a GL2 user, I felt this question was worth registering to answer.
For smallest file size with biggest quality, without having to buy QT Pro, go to DivX.com and get the DivX codec. Then, when rendering .avi (just keeping that extension because that's what you wanted your original file to be) go to render>AVI>select the NTSC DV-AVI template if you want, then go to advanced render, then go to the box where it specifies compression, (it'll already say DV-AVI) and select DivX 6 encoding (or something along those lines).
While DivX is alreadya good preset, by pressing "Settings" on the render menu, you can specify the Quality to Compression Speed to File Size ratio. There's even a preset for "Insane Quality" which keeps a low filesize, high quality, but takes a bit of time to render.
If you feel that downloading the DivX codec is a bit much, I'd suggest select the .mov template for a 3mbps quality Quicktime file.
I don't have anything with the DivX codec online, but here's an example from a video I made, rendered for web using just a plain, unspecified Quicktime template:
