Big difference between Panasonic DVX and HVX?

Hello all, and excuse me for my ignorance. I want to know the difference between the DVX and the HVX. Basically, I am close to purchasing the HVX200a but want to make sure I am not spending extra money that I do not have to. I will absolutely purchase it if it is well worth it and relatively better than the dvx model. Basically, I am mostly concerned with visual quality of the cameras. The accessories & its prices are not a big concern of mine at the moment. Basically, I plan to use the camera for music video shoots, concerts, commercials and short films.

Please help if possible, thank you!!

HVX shoots in High Definition to solid state P2 memory cards. It also does everything else the DVX does like shooting DV to tape. Just explore this forum...you should fiind all your answers here.

HVX=HD and SD
DVX=SD only

I would say, for commerce, i.e., professional work, if you are not HD capable these days, you will not have much of a future.

Go for the HVX 200a. It will allow you to shoot DV tape when that fits you production but also gives you HD possibilities with the P2 card. Right now I've shot about 50-50 DV tape/HD with my HVX but more and more is on HD. From what you listed as what you will be shooting than the HVX will fit your needs. (But remember P2 cards are somewhat expensive and the workflow is a liitle different.)
