Check it out! I always love your feedback.

Synopsis: Two youngsters compete for the bicycle of their dreams in hopes of winning the heart of the most alluring girl in town. The film received 2 awards and screened at 7 different film festivals.

watch out for (the same as I told 2054434465343404 times before for other films) left / right / stereo mono.

EVERYTHING recorded with ONE (1) mic ----> MONO, or just one track, not 2 the same but just 1 track, panned in the middle

3:50 --> Foley of money is only left

Also be sure you have both speakers working and have them "properly", not one speaker at 5053454343543 feet away and another 4 inch away....

The story/film itself was nice to watch. Just in sound few details (well for me): like the footsteps of the girl they sound to much "grown up footsteps", other kind of shoes had been better.

Thanks for the input!

I made this film many years ago in film school. The sound was done in post, and definitely lacks. Good to know about the stereo/mono stuff.

Are you saying that when I have recorded something in stereo with 1 mic, i should delete one of the 2 tracks to make it mono, and then pan it to the middle? As opposed to leaving the 2 tracks and panning it to the middle?

Yes, because stereo is ALWAYS 2 mics or a stereomic (which is one mic with 2 mics in it).

stereo means: left and right different information, so if you're standing with one mic in a field, and left is a cow moawing, right a dog barking and in the middle birds singing, well with one mic everything will come out of the center. With 2 mics, in a certain position (XY, MS, AB are different kinds of stereo recording) the cow will sound left, the dog will sound right and the birds will sound in the middle.

Here the drums will sound left, the piano right and the bass and sax in the middle.

Now, with 2 speakers (when positioned good, left and right, both same distance, directed to you and when you have an imagine line from the speakers to you the should cross where you are sitting)

you'll have what is called "ghost center", which is because the same information is coming out of both speakers. So not needed to have 2 the same tracks.

In cinema you'll have left center right, where all dialogues are coming out of the center speaker (which in your case would be the "ghost center").

Next time when you listen to music, you'll hear that some instruments sound more left, other right and other middle... Best is with classical music
