Yes, I too would love onion skinning, the ability to look at a thumbnail off the card and superimpose the live camera image over it at a 50 - 50 percent transparency.
With all of the one man band type shooting producers expect today, I'd really really love Face Detection for focus. It was available on the FS700, why not the FS7?
I hear comments that "face detection is not for professionals" however I've been shooting for 30 years and could really use the feature, (especially if they want to sell more auto-focus lenses.
(Seems the least they could do what with all of the buzz lately about the C300 MKII's super advanced auto focus capabilities).
I talked to Juan Martinez about face detection when the camera came out. Its not possible .
It's not possible with this business model
I would love if you could use the zoom rocker on the handle to toggle the crop function on and off. That would be extremely handy! Being able to assign noise reduction to a user button wouldn't hurt either.
I talked to Juan Martinez about face detection when the camera came out. Its not possible . Just not built into the Camera's functionality . Too bad as I assumed it would be there after the FS700, but Sony engineers in different departments don't always talk to each other and Sony erroneously considered the FS7 and F5/F7 more of a "Cine " type camera (hence no white balance in CINE EI).
Make the Full Auto button an assignable button.
They have 3 years cycle (not counting mirrorless), so now it will be a time for F5/55 replacement. This NAB maybe?
I was all for C300II becoming my next camera just because of that AF but they went nuts with the price so my choice was fs7 instead. I think this is a next big feature they'll include in a successor of FS7 or F5/55. On A7RII it's already working extremely well.
Things I've learned so far about Sony:
- Sony is moving a lot quicker then other manufacturers but that comes at a cost
- Their cameras can have some unexpected bugs or flaws because of speed they release new cameras
- Rent and test each Sony camera before purchasing by yourself. Sony cameras can have a bug or flaw that may be unacceptable for they way you work/shoot
- DO NOT buy new, freshly released Sony camera if you think that some bug or feature (important for you) will be very soon fixed or added with new firmware. It may but you may also wait for it year or longer
- Giving justice to Sony: if they promised something in firmware update they will implement it. Don't trust given dates of FM release (see point above)
- If you want to be on a cutting edge of technology go for Sony (well... we can argue about "cutting edge" but let's leave it like that for now)
No? I think their sensors are cutting edge. And definitely you could say this: cutting edge for the resonable priceI don't think Sony could ever be described as cutting edge.
