GH2 Between GH2 and G6

For shooting 1080p only, on extremely tight budget, what I can afford right now is either G6 with 14-42 kit lens, or used GH2 (and then hack it) with a lens or 2.
Out of those 2 options, which will give me better video image quality?
On the G6 PAL, is video recording length limited to 30 minutes even in AVCHD?

The G6 is a radically better handling camera with significantly better features than the GH2. 1080-60p and 50p in ETC mode creates an amazing image IMHO. Something the GH2 doesn't have. The G6 also has significantly better noise reduction in cam for acceptable lower light work. The focus peaking feature is invaluable for manual focusing.

Cheers,
Pete

Do 16mm film lenses cover the ETC mode size on the sensor? I think I've read that they will, but worth asking.

I have both, and the GH2 with the Flowmotion2 hacks wins every time to me. You can get a used GH2 for around $350 if you are a little patient. The g7 just came out and it's 4k for $800 with the 14-42 kit lens. Something to think about.

I bought a G6 about 8 months ago, and after using it for a couple of weeks sold off my hacked GH2. I use manual lenses so focus peaking is helpful. Built-in timelapse - yay! And 1080p60 (50 if you are PAL) opens up slow motion, plus reframing and rendering to 720p60. I thought I would miss the hacks but I don't (except for world-cam switch-ability).

Because the G7 has just been released, G6's will be showing up cheap on EBay - I looked earlier this week and saw a couple had sold below $400.

By the way, you don't say what style of shooting you plan, but you might consider an adapter and a couple of legacy primes as an alternative to the Lumix zoom.

Thank you all.
I just purchased a demo G6 + 14-42 kit lens over eBay for Euro 358 ($402), including overseas shipping.
More lenses and adapters will follow gradually. Also GH4, when I'll have the money.
