HI All

I really could not find an appropriate place for this topic, please pardon my thread being posted here. I figured there are allot of eyes on the HVX forum, so someone may be able to help. (hey, I own 2 HVX's, that has to count for something??)

Anyway, I am closing out/digitizing a bunch of old Cherished Betacam Tapes. I have an older Sony BVW 40 Betacam (Oxide) Deck, not SP. (yes I know, it is ancient) The AUTO OFF light came on, and now it just sits there. None of the transport controls do a thing, including the Eject. It was working fine all day.

I don't know if this is a moisture/condensation issue or what. This happened once in the past, but I cannot remember what I did to rectify it. It has been years since I have messed with it.

Until today, I had not powered this deck up in about 2 years. It has been sitting on my racks covered up. I put new heads in it a couple months before it was finally relieved from service. I kept it because one of the few in the Betacam Oxide series that will actually play back SP tapes decently enough for viewing. The Tape in it is an SP tape. I don't know if that makes a Difference or not.

Can anyone help?

Mucho Thanks in advance

David
