Sorry this is a repost. I made the first thead in the wrong place.

I have about 4 hours of raw footage from my t2i that I would like to fit onto one DVD. Is this possible? Would I run it through compressor? What would be the best way to do this?

240 minutes of footage will not fit on SD DVD.

If you are looking to author a DVD, I'd suggest heavy editing to reduce the event to under 90 minutes and preferably less.

I am going to try to edit some down. Would splitting it into 2 dvds work? I tried using a compressor setting for 120 minutes hd video for dvd, but the file came out to 7gigs. That's too much for a dvd. Is there another setting I should use?

What do you mean HD video? You can't put HD video on a standard 4.7GB DVD (yes you can put HD-DVD onto a DVD, about 25 min worth, but who would want to?)

Yes, you should be able to use compressor to make a 120 minute standard DVD that will fit.

If the file came to 7GB then just buy a dual-layer DVD disk and burn. It will hold 8.5GB. Problem solved.

It would be helpful to clarify what you are trying to do.

1. You cannot author a high definition DVD in DVD SP. It does support HD DVD, but no set top boxes are supported.

2. If you are trying to author a SD DVD, then 4.2 GB/s of encoded materials is what a SD DVD will hold. At the most, you can get 120 minutes on one, but quality will be significantly compromised. You don't the wedding party looking bad.

Can someone explain why you cannot put HD footage on a Dvd? To my understanding a dvd is just a container of storage so what would limit it from placing an hd file onto it? Secondly Xbox 360 games to my understanding is High Definition and they are on Dvd discs. If anyone could clear up this confusion for me it would be greatly appreciated.

You can copy a high definition video file to a standard DVD. But that is a different animal altogether that create a high definition video DVD on a red laser dye DVD.

In my first response, I asked the OP if he was trying to author a DVD. Creating a data DVD that has a copy of an HD movie is possible, but it the only hold 4.2 GBs of data.

XBox games are produced a proprietary way that isn't available using a SuperDrive and an author application on a Mac
