Would love some recommendations for the best wireless handheld microphone system for recording speeches at wedding receptions that costs less than US$1,000.
Something like the Shure SLX24/Beta87a (or c) combo is what I'm looking at but I'd love to get some recommendations from those who have used a system that they feel provides excellent vocals primarily for speeches with minimal issues.

Still can't go wrong with the Sennheiser Evolution series. I use their rackmount units for live stage work almost exclusively.

The Sennheiser G3 series is regarded by most as one of the best under $1k systems. The newer digital Ghz systems are easier to set up (frequency wise) but there are pros and cons to both (same w/ 'UHF vs. VHF').
As for mic choice, will it be integrated with a live sound system? .. if not, a reporter's type (dynamic omni) is usually the better option. Do you need a portable cam-mount receiver? .. which are not available on many of the Shure systems.
Some of the bands I work for, use the Shure SLX, GLX and BLX systems with the 58 and Beta58 H/H mic/transmitter, which have been pretty much been interference free.
Just remember that no wireless system is 100% reliable (not even the $3k Lectro and Zaxcom models). So having a hardwired mic is a good idea.
