But you will have to learn to focus backwards, whereas with Yashica ML lenses you will get Yashica branded Contax Zeiss lenses that focus the usual way and look and feel like Contax Zeiss. Only without T* coating, but that may not be worth hundreds of dollars anyway compared to ML coating.
I understand that the name might be just as important (if not more important) as the product itself.
Sorry but the only thing the Yashica ML and Contax Zeiss lenses share are the C/Y mount.
The Yashica ML lenses are multi-coated, but they are not the same optical design as the Contax Zeiss lenses, and they have a different look than the Zeiss lenses.
Zeiss in PL mounts aren't exactly economical! (if that's what you're suggesting in regards to the topic).id go with something like this:

Looks like these are used market only.Contax Zeiss with adaptor works very well (and the lenses focus in the standard direction, unlike our Nilkkors).
1. Buy a Zeiss lens
2. Buy a GH2
3. Buy an adapter to put the Zeiss lens on the GH2
That would be the simplest way.
Comparable (arguably better) lenses would be Leica R and M mounts.
"Economical" and either Zeiss or Leica are generally mutually exclusionary terms.
again, at $1200 it may not fall into the "economical" category. but i dont usually use the words economical and zeiss in close proximity : )
i'd be looking at this:

The point is that the Cine lenses are 2K-3K/ea.
