Best Way to Power FS700 & Odyssey 7Q (V-lock, Anton Bauer, etc)

Hello,

I am looking for some advice on a single battery solution to power my FS700 & Odyssey 7Q.

Approximately how much run time could I expect to get if I was powering my FS700 & Odyssey 7Q from something linke an Anton Bauer or V-lock battery?

I would like to not have to deal with attaching a battery to the back of the Odyssey 7Q. So, what would be the best solution for a single battery that I could mount on 15mm rods at the rear of my FS700. I have absolutly NO experience with Anton Bauer, v-lock, etc. If someone could provide some links to the best components to make this work I would appreciate it. I am assuming I would need the battery, charger, 2 different cables and some type of adpter, mounting plate.

Thank you,

I just got off the phone with 16X9 and here is what they say I will need:

1ea. Movcam Battery Bracket #MOV-306-0209 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...MOV_306_0209_BATTERY_BRACKET_FOR_V_MOUNT.html
1ea. Movcam FS700 Cable #MOV-101-1712 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/981839-REG/movcam_mov_101_1712_4_pin_lemo_for_sony.html
1ea. Convergent Design Cable #CD-OD-DTAP http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...design_cd_od_dtap_d_tap_to_neutrik_power.html
1 or 2 V-mount batteries - This is where I could use some help. What brand/model battery should I purchase? I do not care about meeting FAA flight regulations as I will never travel on an airline with these.

Thank you,

Personally, I use the Tilta V-mount plate. I actually made my own cable that goes from the 8v DC plug to the FS700 AC adapter plug. I think some ebay sellers include a cable for the FS700, I'd double check if you're not comfortable creating your own cables.

The Tilta plate is nice because it has D-tap + different voltages to accomodate different devices and cameras. So the way I use it sometimes is like this: 8v DC to FS700, D-Tap to Alphatron EVF, D-Tap on V-mount battery itself to Odyssey7Q.

Running the FS700+EVF only, I get about 11 hours of run time of a 195wH battery (that's a really beefy battery, BTW) Lots of people only use 95wH to 135wH. If I do FS700+7Q, I tend to get around 8-9 hours on the 195wH battery.

I know price isn't always going to be everyone's concern but the Movcam solution seems unnecessarily expensive

I ended up buying a solution from Hawkwoods which has worked well. It's high quality stuff and I am pretty sure will come in cheaper than the Movcam solution.

After I purchased the Hawkwoods system I came across a great looking power system from F&V who are more noted for their lighting but have very reasonably priced power solutions

Its worth checking out. I especially like their integrated rail mounting solution as it offers a lot of options for positioning. Once you buy the Power distribution breakout box either Westside AV and or Hawkwoods both offer dtap to FS700 cables. Good luck in your search.

I would like to know where can i get DC plug to fs700 AC adapter plug cable? i wish to purchase tilta v-mount plate too but can't find the cable yet.

Another option for such a battery plate is Wooden Camera. They make a battery mount with a cable directly to the FS700 and the battery plate also includes two D-Tap sockets. Mounted to their Battery Slide mount plate with their rod coupler, it makes for a sweet adjustable and compact power kit.

I'm not sure where you can get one of the cables. You can try emailing the people selling them on eBay. I bought my Tilta plate without checking (and it didn't come with one) and no one on eBay would sell me just the cable, so I ended up having to make my own cable.

Anyone own the movcam battery plate - either the Lemo or XS connector variants? I can find very little info on it and wondered how good it is, whether running both battery slots works well and if it has a power switch?
