Best way to go run and gun with wireless mic and 5D on shoulder rig?

Hey guys, I've got a "run and gun" shoot in a couple of days and I'd like to see what others are doing for audio in this situation.

I'm shooting an on camera host at a celebrity event as she walks around and interviews people. My 5D will be on a shoulder mount as I travel around the room with her, and LED light will be in the hotshoe. I've got a sennheiser butt plug going into a wireless mic, the receiver which will need to be on me or camera, and a zoom H4n to record. Any good little people can recommend to make this as simple as possible? Can I come out of the receiver and directly into the camera passing up the ZOOM? what kind of audio quality can I expect from this?

Any info appreciated, and pics of others' setups also would be cool if available.

cheers

Run-n-gun, wireless double system audio w/o tc, event situation without slate opportunity, I guess this is what pluraleyes was invented for.

The way to make it simple as possible? I'd rent a C300.

Ha! Yeah, I was afraid I'd get that answer.

Well, as of now it looks like I'll just go with dual system and let the editor worry about it ;)

You should try to get everything mounted to the camera or shoulder rig. A shoe splitter like the Cool Lux MD-3000 will allow you to mount the light and the receiver to the shoe of the camera. The H4n can be mounted somewhere else on the shoulder mount via its 1/4 20 thread.

I would plug the receiver into an XLR input on the H4n and record 24-bit 48kHz WAV files. I would also use a Sescom LN2MIC-ZMH4-MON cable to connect the headphone output of the H4n to the mic input on the 5D. This way you're recording the same signal into the 5D and the H4n. Also, monitor on headphones to make sure the sound isn't messing up.

This is essentially what we do Sam. Tascam DR-40 or 100MK11 are great for this. Run wireless into either tascam, run a padded cable out of the line out into the mic input on the 5D. The padded cable brings the line level down to a mic level so it doesn't peak. If your on a 5d mark3 you can monitor audio from the cameras headphone jack, or if you're on the 5d2 you can monitor from the headphone of the Tascam. We use the Tascam 100mk2 for this and you can record to the card as well as to the camera for redundant audio if need be.
