Basically im a new comer to this forum and after effects - just got it! But i really need help to create a Pleasantville style selective colour film .

Ive been using photoshop to edit each frame individually, but as you can imagine its taking F****** ages! Now that ive got AE i heard from someone there was a much easy way of doing this!

I heard you cod create a mask and apply it over the sequence?

OR does anyone have any better ways of how to do this?
I dont want a picture perfect colour selection like pleasantville more a rough indie music video style. But i wod settle for anything to be honest thats roughly like this.
I ultimately just want the character in the film to be black and white and the rest in colour!

Any suggestions?????????

For heart shape box by nirvana they used a gym full of mexican kids on photoshop to colour :), just experiment with Colorize and find edges and the transfer modes, try chalk or pastel something that will dither down the pallete a bit, also use curves to push your highlights and crush your blacks

thanks for adice. Its not going to take as long in after effects right? Do i still have to edit each frame - i hope everyone got that i want to select just the person and put him in black and white.

Any tutorial suggestions???
