Hi All,

Sorry if this question has been asked a million times (if so can somebody give me a link) I am giving up my 3 yr old MacBookPro and heading back to a windows based laptop. I am seriously looking at either Edius or Adobe CS5.5 to edit and I wondered if anybody has a tried and tested way of transfering the footage over to the laptop. My Mac had a PCI e slot but the new one doesn't? any advice will be gladly received

Regards

My old $800 VAIO laptop has both an Express34 slot and a SDHC slot, so I can grab files directly from SxS cards or from SDHC cards which I use in my MX5 cameras or in my MxM adapters in my EX1. I just use Windows Explorer (equivalent to Mac Finder) to simply drag-n-drop the whole directory structure from the media directly to the internal (or external) hard drive. Couldn't be simpler.

Yep that would be simple if my new laptop had one of those slots...:embarasse I was asking if there were another option apart from using my camera as an ext drive because of the lack of PCI E ... I am mainly shooting on SXS ... Cheers for the response anyway :Drogar-Happy(DBG):

I did :)

And sorry, its a custom made one from PC Specialists. I am going to ask if they can fit a PCI E slot for me... Cheers

The SxS™ memory card specification uses flash memory and complies with the ExpressCard™ industry standard, and the card connects directly to computer systems through the high-speed PCI-Express™ bus. ExpressCard™ has been rapidly adopted by PC manufacturers to replace the legacy PC Card™ form factor, giving the SxS™ memory cards broad support in post-production hardware

Or so they tell me
