Best way to connect an HD monitor to the HVX 200

I'm quite confused. I got an ikan V8000HDMI 8" TFT LCD Monitor this afternoon.

http://www.ikancorp.com/pages/monitors/V8000hdmi/index.htm

It's my first HD monitor and I have no clue what its the best way to connect it to the camera. I've never even had an HDTV so this is all new to me. The clerk at B & H told me I would need 2 Phono (RCA jack to BNC plugs) to connect the monitor to my HVX but I really think that he should have given me 3, right?

Or would you recommend that I use an HDMI cord which will allow me to just make one connection on the camera and one to the back of the monitor.

He also told me that everything that I'd need besides the 2 RCA to BNC plugs were in the box and I just found out that I need a battery plate, too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The HVX200 doesn't have HDMI. You'd use the component cable. Your monitor apparently has BNC connectors, so use the three BNC adapters that came with the cable to attach to the monitor.

I had the same trouble with B&H, they did not ship a battery plate. I ordered online, and there was no place to select which battery plate type I needed. I thought the Sony battery would slide right onto the monitor like the old version did. When I received the monitor, the Ikan box had plainly written on it "Battery adapter plate inlcluded" or something like that. So I called B&H and they told me to contact Ikan. After a series of phone calls, I received in the mail one adapter plate from each company. Kudos to Ikan for taking care of me, they really seemed to care about the trouble. The B&H guy was clue-free on this problem, but they fixed up their website and ordering system recently, so this will no longer be an issue.

I usually run component into the monitor from the camera, then I will also run HDMI (DVI) into the monitor from my MacBook Pro (which is also capturing) from the firewire coming out of the camera. (This is for a studio monitor) Hope that makes sense.

Great Website Matt. Who did it?
