I am still encountering interlacing artefacts or stepping on thin wires etc and other angled high contrast elements when using Full HD. I know this is an issue with even the 7D but it bugs the hell out of me because I used to deinterlace SD footage very nicely with a product called Reelsmart Deinterlacer. If I could get the interlaced version of the footage then I might have a better go at deinterlacing myself.
So my question is can you get a 50i interlaced 1920x1080 FullHD video from a GH1 .mts file. I have tried 5D2rgb and it's good although it shoots out 50p instead of 25p and still has the interlacing artefacts.
On most stuff you can get away with 1280x720 and if it's a medium shot then the general softness compared to 1920x1080 is barely noticeable. I have a good MJPEG setting that iPowell has tested extensively and it looks fantastic. But on a wide shot with lot's of detail you really need to shoot Full HD to capture all the details. I haven't tried to shoot MJPEG at different sizes, so maybe that is a way to go. It's just that you trade off quality with a much smaller amount of footage you can write to the card.
Also as has been stated time and again on the forum the 24/25p wrapper hack is not that stable. So this isn't an option either.
I did have this problem a while back and know that there has to be a way around it. If not then GH2 here I come
All the best
