Hey,

Just got a new DVX100A, and I'm looking for the best way, or the method you guys use to get my recordings from the camera to my pc or mac (I have both).

Thanks,
Mike

Might want to read through the book. The best way, and the only way you should be using is though fire wire. You would also need to have some kind of capture program installed that can capture the footage. Defenatly check the manual, and keep reading through this site.

The best way is to use a second DV camera or a DV deck to transfer the tape to the computer via Firewire (the 1394 port). I like to use my little Panasonic 203 model...timecode transfer with no problem, and the same batteries & sharger can be used for both cameras.

The second best way is to use the DVX itself for that... But why put more wear on the video heads than you have to to?

I read the manual, but I was just seeing what you guys do.

Info like this is not in the manual :)

There's a manual? You think a video camera would come with a video. Reading like riding horses is a good thing, but since they invented visual and audio it is not the most efficient way to get where you want to go. Maybe manuals could be in the format of ask jeeves to make them more responsive... useable. Even written text can be presented in a more resourceful manner, less linear, than a 60 page monolog with a 2 page index. Maybe there should be a thought index like a hybrid faq that respects the reader’s time and serves his interest. Until then we will seek interaction, thank you.
