I am 5 minutes from purchasing my DVX100a from Willoughbys (I like the kit they offer).

As I understand it I can get an extended warrany from either Photoamerica or Mack as long as I purchase it within 30 days of my camera purchase.

Willoughby's offers Photoamerica for $350 (4-year). But I've found Mack (4-year) at EVS for like $180.

Which do you guys recommend? Not for the camera, but for the warranty.

Also, any idea of service centers that may be in the ATL area?

Thanks.

I've never used a Mack (or any other extended warranties), but I always thought they were a reputable company. I'm sure Rush can answer any questions for you at EVS. I have an insurance policy on mine for $68 a year which even covers against theft or stupidity (dropping the camera, etc.). I figure if the camera has a strictly mechanical problem, then I'll tell my insurance co. that I had an accident and dropped the camera (technically not untrue - I "drop" it in my bag everyday :) ). There's some more info about the policy in this thread:

I'd shy away from Willoughby's just because of those cheap accesories they try to dump on people. Most of those items are crap.
Stick with B&H or the DVXUser.com favorite EVS.
Talk to RUSH at EVS for the DVXUser discount.

I know Willoughby's is an authorized dealer but that doesn't prevent them from dumping crap accesories on people.

They may not be of the highest quality, but the package I want will cost about the same as a single camera from EVS.

Also note I asked about warranties, not the location of the purchase.

Dude, he's just offering an opinion and trying to steer you towards an exemplary seller for YOUR OWN SAKE. The EVS loyalty has been earned by exceptional service. If you have any problems with your camera, EVS will go out of their way to take care of you. That's far from the case with every vendor.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the help.

It's just I really wanted info on the extended warranty aspect of the purchase.

I'll check out Broadway Photo...not.
