Best time to buy a 5D MK II: Black Friday?

I'm going to buy a 5D MK II and a Canon 50 f/1.2 before the end of the year.

Should I wait till after Black Friday? Should I wait for the MK III to come out, bringing down the price of the MK II?

The camera body sells in stores locally (Omaha) for $2,399. The lens for $1,529. There is tax, but no shipping, of course.

I'm making enough money from some paid gigs to cover that cost by the end of the year, but I don't exactly need the camera this week, and I'd like to get a decent deal.

I can get the body, refurbished directly from Canon for $2k.

Thoughts?

Get it refurb from canon, and just FYI, canon is selling their 85mm 1.2 mk ii's refurbished for $1700

I was about to go for the $2k refurbished, but w/ tax and shipping, it ended up coming out to around 2200 which is not really a great deal since all the online stores are running a 2299 special until end of day today. So you might want to check out tax/shipping if you're getting it directly from the Canon site.

Thanks for the replies! I ended up going with Amazon for $2,229 over the weekend. I've never seen the price that low. I feel a lot better about a new body at that price over a used one for 300 less. The difference in price is almost enough to go used. Almost.

I also went with the 50 f/1.4 for $329, rather than the 50 f/1.2 (which was as low as $1,335-ish over the weekend). The holidays are beginning to collide with my bank account. Some of these brides need to start paying up!

Awesome!! I would have jumped on this too if I didn't need the money for a Sachtler tripod and Arri lights

Wish I would have seen this earlier. On Black Friday, Best Buy and Amazon had the 5D for under $1700. I think HSN did as well.
