Best Sub-500 Dollar Follow Focus Choice

Just read your FF article and in your opion if you had the choice would you go with Shoot 35 or Arri not considering cost but usability?

What do you mean about sticking on shoot 35?

Between the 2 - Arri. That said though Shoot35 is extremely well put together FF unit - i just hope it last (as i'm getting one to supplement my Cinevate)
When you tighten the nob to prevent the FF from sliding you force the screw to tight the drive closer to the lens.

can you be more specific about what you didn't like about the CAVISION? also which model did you test. there are quite a few user reviews on BH that disagree with you.

Cavision Basic. Whenever you read reviews always ask yourself how experienced person speaking really is - on BH website anybody can post their review so you end up reading opinions from some people who don't even know what to look for when grading FF unit. Cavision shows so much gear play (like 2-3mm) before the lens' focus ring even gets engaged... not my idea of precision device.

That happens w/ just about every follow focus, except the Arri b/c of the way it tightens. But to alleviate this, all you do is have the gears a little bit further away from the lens than you think would be correct when you tighten down the unit. Almost every follow focus out there needs to be treated this way.

One FF I think looks really nice, but seem to have essentially disappeared is the Petroff Mini.
