Best Slider for its money for the AF100

Hey everyone, I've been window-shopping for the best slider to pair with my AF100. I've found the following to be quite highly recommended:

Cinevate Atlas 10

Kessler Cineslider

I have a Sachtler 75mm ball DV6SB tripod
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/498211-REG/Sachtler_0475_0475_FSB_6_Carbon_Fiber_Tripod.html

I'm looking to purchase a good cinema slider where I'd be able to use my existing 75mm head with it. Would either of the sliders above work? Ideally, I'd like to have some vertical movement as well. That's why i've considered the Atlas 10 since it can be converted to be vertical with an additional kit.

Are there any sliders on the market that can turn into jibs?

I've used both slider sand they are both built well and both companies are fantastic to deal with.

I guess it depends on what kind of shooting you do.

If it is mainly b-roll where it is MOS, then the Cinevate is fine.

If you are using it durinf interviews, I'd get the Kessler as it is much quieter.

IMO, the Cinevate one is smoother because of the ball bearings but it also has a distinctive :shick: sound when you make the move.

The Kessler's belt drive is more quiet and the rotational handle gives you nice control over the move without actually touching the camera platform.

Kessler also has a jib/slider combo.

The problem I see with the Cinevate is it has to be on the ground or some kind of large surface. You can't put it on a tripod.

I personally have seen this one in action and really liked it. http://danadolly.com/Home_Page.php Anyone know of anything similar but less expensive? I figure I could make one for less too. You can't put it on a tripod, but with a couple C-stands it's fairly flexible. No vertical movement. It was very quiet though.

I own a DanaDolly and it is an excellent value for the money.

I've seen that post. I thought the design looked like it could be pretty loud. Have you used it in a quiet dialog scene and didn't hear any noise?

Haven't yet. But, just sliding it I can say it is very quiet. I've had camcorders that were louder when zooming or transporting DV tape.

Steve linked the thread, but I thought I'd give mention to the name: Zazaslider. There are even instructions if you'd rather build than buy.

I bought one and used it on a two-day dentist commercial shoot with my 7D. I was surprised at how much it improved the overall look of what would've been an otherwise static shot. I strategically planted out-of-focus foreground elements and it appeared as smooth as a dolly shot.

Hey Jon, how do you like that Sachtler FSB-6 system? I've been looking at that same deal and have narrowed my search down to that, the Vinten Vision Blue, or a Miller Compass 15 Solo CF.

Maybe not in the same league as what you're looking at, but so not to hijack thought I'd mention I have a Glidetrack Compact (20") and like the quality and performance. http://www.glidetrack.com/products/

Any noise from the ZazaSlider? I was so impressed with the Dana Dolly that I'm thinking it might be worth the extra $225 or so ($125 more for the kit without track and an extra $100 estimate for track at various lengths). You end up with a 100mm and 75mm ball adapter, which makes it very versatile. http://shop.danadolly.com/Dana-Dolly-Kit-Dana-Dolly-Kit.htm You would need C-stands or something to put the track ends on, but I have those already.

You actually need low boy stands. C-stands are too high.

AZ Grip, the makers of the Danadolly, actually has a deal where you can get a discount on low boys when you buy the dolly.

Kessler Cineslider FTW!

Yeah, you're right. I'd need to buy a couple low boys. Thanks for the heads up on the discount on those. Do you know what the price is?

I can't say enough about how much I love my CineSlider.

Definitly consider a Kpod, and herculese to go with it, they really provide a stable shooting shooting platform, even with a fully built AF100 package.

I had the IGUS for a year, but just got the Atlas 10 and LOVE it. It is quiet unless you are doing very fast moves. It does't grab when it is off balance or on an angle and the build of the legs is very pro.

Thanks Cinevate.

I really like the Sachtler FSB-6 System. Mine has the carbon fiber legs. And, if you run and gun a lot. The carbon fiber is amazing when you have to carry EVERYTHING yourself. I was indecisive for a while over weather to get CF or Aluminum. But the CF was a life safer on my back.

That said, i'm trying to make the move up to a more cinematic rig and less of a ENG rig. So, I might be looking to upgrade to a 100mm ball head sooner rather than later. If so, i'll look to post my current system for sale here.
