Take a look at the stickies at the top of the forum. One of them outlines audio packages in various price ranges - every thing from starter kits to top of the line kits. But, don't forget that it isn't just a microphone you need. You need a shock mount, cables, boom pole, wind protection, another microphone, more cables, headphones, another microphone, etc.

This is why the stickies are a great place to start.

Hello JD,

A lot of choices out there. The Sanken CS-3e is a very good boom mic. It works as a longer throw shotgun and it's tight pattern lets you use it in interiors with better results than most oterh shotguns but a Schoeps CMIT.
