Best settings to get 720p and 480i to match up?

Doing a promo video for a school. Don't have the cash for more than one P2 card so much of the stuff is going to be shot on tape. However, some stuff will be P2 720pN. Any advice to make sure these look as close as possible when burned to an SD-DVD?

Just shoot in SD to P2 at the highest setting. If your target is SD dvd, and you are throwing tape in the mix, you may as well shoot SD on P2 as well. At the highest setting, it looks really good.

I did that early on, and shot to P2 card first, and only switched to tape when downloading. I did have 2 cards though so it was easier than just one card.

I would only try that if your shots have breaks every 10 minutes or so. If it is one long take, your better off using all tape.

Well, I want the space saving features and variable framerates that 720p offers (for a client, you can talk all you want about the better color depth or higer resolution of a camera but, for some reason, they don't really get all that excited untill they see some great looking slow mo or fast motion).

Sounds like you answered your own question..... you are going to shoot to the card no matter what, so do it. It still doesn't make doing so any easier with your limitations of having only one card.
