best settings to film action with hvx200a

Hi All,
I'm new to the hvx world and obviously have a lot to learn. I have been filming a lot of surfing lately trying to achieve that film look with the 720 24pn setting. The thing I am quickly finding is there seems to be a bit of ghosting (blur) on my subject. Some frames seem in focus while others seem out of focus even though I am using manual mode. I assume it is because I am filming in 24pn? Although I initially wanted to get the film look I am quickly finding I would rather have the super crisp HD look. Any help on choosing the proper settings is much appreciated.

I'm sure people will disagree in some cases but I'd say use a faster shutter speed.

Shoot it faster (60i) and slow it down so it plays back more smooth. Also a lot of action if you watch it, is actually slow motion. Shooting 60i helps you get better slow motion as well.

In that case, he wouldn't shoot 60i; he'd shoot 24pN at 60p using variable frame rates.

Try everything.

I'm pretty sure that's right ^^^

digitalwunderland: I think you need to experiment in the same environment you are going to be shooting at. We could tell you settings all day long, but I don't think one setting will help in all conditions. Personally, I like the look of a 1/60 shutter with the aperture at around 2.x and shooting from a distance. Something about it just looks "action-y" to me :). Just play around with the camera. Try different shutter speeds, different frame rates, and different distances from the subjects. I'm sure you'll find that sweet spot :D
