GH2 Best settings for minimal grain

I absolutely love my GH2, in fact it's one of my favorite cameras that I've ever shot with. The only challenge I have with it is in avoiding grain in the dark/shadow areas of the video image. I know it's not a full frame 5D and will always be slightly noisier, but even at 160 iso with a well lit shot - I notice a decent amount of grain in the shadows. It's not horrible by any means, but it's there.

Does anyone have recommendations for settings, etc. that might help reduce the amount of noise in the shadows? Typically I shoot on smooth with varying settings (usually at -2).

most of the color data is stored in the mid to high part of the wavefrom . so +1 - give abit of highlight over would get your darks clean of noise. Howevet this is just a general rule . look at the scene and think about it.

Thanks for the responses, guys.

deadfish - this is very good to know. Which setting(s) should be dialled to +1 in order to bump up the lightness in the shadows?
