Best settings for B/W Slow motion, no depth of field

Dear Friends,

I'm getting ready to do a shoot which I'm intending to do in a "filmic" black and white, slow motion shooting a faucet dripping slowly. I want to capture the drips with as little as depth of field as possible as a XCU (extreme closeup). I guess I would be "overcranking" the cam.

This is the first time I'm going to be shooting something like this with my HVX200a as SD. I'm guessing that HD can only be shot with a P2 card.

I'm going to try to add "grain" in FCP.

Thanks......

Not sure ... but perhaps you can shoot 720/60p over firewire into laptop ... eh ... or maybe not.

I do know that you will want to open the aperture up fully to get shallowest DOF and find the sweet spot where the camera is not too far away from the dripping water yet far enough that you can zoom enough to blow out the background making it look less sharp.

If you don't have a P2 card, you're not going to be overcranking; that's only available in 720p HD mode.

John Froton is giving you the idea of firewiring into the laptop as a way to be able to shoot HD without a P2 card.

If you want minimal depth of field the best way to get that would be with a 35mm adapter; if you don't have one of those then you would probably want to get the camera as close to the drips as possible and focus as close as possible; a closeup diopter lens will help enormously with that.
