Best Render Quality?

Hi, I'd like to know your opinions on the best possible settings to render my work to be put onto a DVD, I want a crisp clear picture with good quality. Ive tried using Quick time with the mpeg-4 and soreson compressors and both come out very grainy. Ive also tried rendering as a Mpeg-2 with DVD architect template and this looks even worse, its very grainy and the film is very choppy. Can you give me some suggestions for best rendering settings?

The only way you can put a video onto a DVD for playing in a standard set-top DVD player is by rendering to MPEG-2. That said, you want to render using the highest bitrate possible while still being able to fit your video on the DVD. Also keep in mind that you don't want to exceed 9 Mbps as many set-top DVD players will have problems trying to play it. If possible, I usually stick to 8 Mbps. Rendering at 8 Mbps will also show very little difference (if at all) to 9 Mbps as the MPEG-2 codec plateaus at about 8 Mbps.

For starters, I'd recommend using the DVD Architect or DVD NTSC/PAL MPEG-2 presets and tweak from there until you get something you like.

Two passes would be my advice. Comb the videohelp forums for discussion on this kind of thing, ad nauseum... :)

I'm sorry, but I hate when people reply 'make a search'. Myself, I search and search and search, and still post a question b/c I want the most up to date answer/opinion/experience. Not to have someone tell me to go search what I already looked up.

This is not directed at you bklyndv, because you atleast offered your opinion THEN suggested a search. There are just so many that simply reply 'make a search'.

Remember: This is a forum, not google, so help a brother out!

it is indeed a forum, however many of these questions already have very detailed answers. It would be to your benefit to read these things already posted. Try a search under the vegas forum, choose DVD and Render as your key words, and check out all the good info that is already here.

Yes but maybe to help out learners you could probably point the person to the right source if you know its already been posted. Believe me getting the right keywords and doing a search is sometimes frustrating. We land up with several posts that dont even relate to the query at hand. So if you know its been posted before "in detail" then it would be so helpful to find that post and just give him the link. No need to repeat the whole thing. But just a link to where its been posted would help. But then if your unabe to find it yourself to give the link. Think of his plight. Just a suggestion so we can be more helpful.

No it might be a general pointing example that can apply to crazy posts even today. Ive seen a lot of posts where someone just says search the cafe. It doesnt work that easily. I was just pointing that out. That it would be helpful for begginners like me if we could rather have the link to the old post.
