Best post techniques for sharpening

Ok, so I need to do some sharpening on some footage to correct some out of focus shots from a camera person I hired. What are some of your techniques you use that you find work well and actually looks good?

Thanks guys, this a problem I hate to have to deal with but one I have to none-the-less.

I have found that most sharpening tools also sharpen the noise at the same time. Neat Video has a sharpening feature that doesn't accentuate the noise when it works. You have to take a noise profile first, so it know what not to sharpen.

Depending on how out of focus the footage is - increasing the contrast, though not actually physically affecting the degree of sharpness, gives the appearance of increasing the sharpness, kind of fools the eyes. This only really works on slightly soft footage.

Sometimes doing a Hard Light blend will help, too. Of course, your NLE needs to be able to do this. Or, AE can.
 
Thanks guys, I actually found that the unsharp mask in Premiere worked pretty well. not perfect, but good enough.
