i want the audio to sound great on my projects and i want the audio on the ex1 and 7d to be identical...therefore going video/audio seperate i believe is best...

is the zoom h4n great? and does the pre-amps have low noise like the juicedlink?

which program is it that can time synch automatically?

i read somewhere that if you record with the audio on the camera turned to on, and also on a seperate device like the zoom it will align the audio files based on curves and peaks....which program is this?

thanks for the help guys!!

EDIT: is the gain adjustable on the zoom h4n?

zoom h4n is a great recorder and has nice pre amps. you'd get much better pre amps out of a mixer (sound devices mix pre or 302) and have better limiters before getting to your recorder.

plural eyes is the syncing app.

it lines up the sound based on the wave forms in the audio.

if on every shoot you're using your ex1 i don't see a need for a recorder. the ex1 has great audio.

and yes, gain is adjustable on the h4n.

i am shooting 7D/EX1....so i dont want the audio to better on one than the other...i was going to get a juicedlink cx231 preamp, with dn101 AGC defeater....would that be better?

yes, i was suggesting using the audio from the ex1 as your master audio. i shoot a lot with my 7d and hmc150, using hmc150 as my master audio.

Yeah, I can't say definitively, but I would hazard to guess that the sound out of an EX1 would be comperable to sound from an H4N. I've heard quite a few people rave about the EX's audio capabilities.

Shame it's not available for CS4 or Edius.

Does anybody use the Tascam DR-100? I just picked one up for audio recording with the 7D but I have never seen it mentioned on these boards. Seems to me to be a viable alternative to the Zoom H4n...

I use an Oade Brothers modified Marantz 661. I also have a Zoom H4n and when I did tests the much lower noise level with the Oade Brothers Marantz was startling. Anyone want to buy a barely used H4n?

is there any other program than plural eyes? one that will work with adobe cs4?

also is the zoom h4n the best solution? i dont mind spending 200 dollars more than the zoom for a better pre-amp...

what about going from a juicedlink, into the zoom h4n?
