And will there be a price difference from the NTSC to the PAL model? And how do the variable frame rates look on the PAL version? Don't tell me they are 23, 25 and 27...

If you pretty hot about HVX200 and still cannot wait for the first official European tests get your pre-order in Switzerland at Schweizer AG

Nah, they will be way to expensive. I don't wanna pay 1500$ more for a camera that can only do the "variable" framesrates 25p and 50p...what a joke the PAL version is. No 24p, not more resolution, no real variable framerates and 20% higher price...

Pascal, we actually get more resolution (1440 instead of 1280), but all this is only technical stuff. the image seems to hold up against competition, that matters.

prices are not final yet, so it is best to sit still and wait. maybe someone can start a list of PAL users and we order in a batch and get a studiodiscount? i will buy two, who is with me? if we order 20 as dvxusers, we might get a good price!!

I am not convinced about the resolution, I´ll wait and see, also with higher EU prices for the HVX and the workflow/P2 difficulties and pricing all together the Canon XLH1 seems to be comparable and receives very good response.

I have troubles with the shoot and offload concept in my work. That is one of the benefits shooting video compared shooting film. We have budget, and wait until the EU version is tested in DVCPRO50. P2 pricing is too high, other Firestone etc. not evaluated, we cannot afford or feel need to ´dig the first stone´.

So I´m not with you to preorder, but if a major company in the Netherlands or the BBC is doing so, I can change my mind.

Why more resolution? Is the resolutin in HD PAL different?

The codec is different in 50hz vs. 60hz. In 50hz it supports 1080/25p and 1080/50i, which means less temporal resolution. In exchange that frees up some bits which can be used for a little more spatial resolution, which makes the 50hz 1080 codec 1440x1080, vs. 1280x1080 for the 60hz version.

But the CCD's don't have more resolution, right? And the CineAlta can record 60p or 50p, so does it have a resulution of 1280 or 1440? Or does it change with the frame rate? And once you have recorded in 1280 or 1440, how do you end up at 1920?
