Best place to buy HD100?

For what it's worth, looking at even the non-authorized dealers like profeel, B&H currently seems to have lowest price.

You might see if used ones start to show up on Ebay, though I haven't seen too many.

Or try your luck at the ridiculous it's-definitely-a-scam sites. Just look at www.resellerratings.com and look at the ratings in ascending order.

i got mine from texas tapeworks. it was 5300. with the idx promo.
i like the service there, scott cantrell is the man.
bh is too pushy for my taste. i don't think they deserve the hype, their roots are in the brooklyn scene from what i know.

"The Brooklyn Scene"?!? brianluce, that's close to libel. B&H is as legit as any company in this business, and more legit than most. Yes, they're not to some people's taste, but they are *nothing* like the Brooklyn scammers; there is simply no comparison. I've bought tens of thousands of dollars of equipment from them, and have never had a negative experience. So have most others, from all available evidence.

And by the way, I have no relationship with B&H whatsoever, except as a satisfied customer. What you're implying is an out-and-out lie, and beyond the pale, IMO.

Agreed. They are a superstore and their customer service is not the same as a mom and pop shop, but, c'mon, they are definitely legit. I've always been satisfied with the many purchases I've made from them. They are a good, honest, retailer with great prices. They are NOWHERE in the universe of the brooklyn shops. Ridiculous.

B&H is in Manhattan, not Brooklyn. They are one of the, if not the, largest dealers in the country and are absolutely legit through and through.

After visiting the store, there is no way that place is not legit. I love it, never had a problem with them.

The story i've heard on b&h is that once upon a time they absolutely did have business practices that echoed some of their brooklyn neighbors. However in fairness they're totally legit now, but that doesn't mean I have to appreciate their hang up in your ear "I don't care how long you've been on hold" attitude. i have never found anything excpetional about b&h. i don't think they deserve the hype.

Maybe it's just an East Coast West Coast thing. I grew up in LA, the East coast is just so mafia. The weather sucks too. I still have issues with some of the crap the Larry Bird led Celtics use to pull on my beloved Lakers in the 80's. It was just so wrong.

Well it doesn't seem to be listed in JVC site's "Find A Dealer" search. The warranty is the same even if it's not a Pro JVC dealer though, isn't it? Is there that much of a difference? Since I won't live close to where I buy the camera anyway, I figure if anything goes wrong with it, I'll be shipping it to JVC. Is my thinking off on this one? Is having a dealer in your corner worth more than 10% savings in the camera price?

how much are they going for? Maybe Barry's is there...

I saw the final bidding ending around $4,700 or so. No idea how many of these they have. Seems like one auction ends, they start another.

I was going to rent one to try it out, but I'm tempted to get one before they're all gone.

But if they sell display items, then I guess they'd always have another down the pike?
