I want to purchase the dvx100b and I can't seem to find any decent prices in Vancouver, Canada. Are there any good deals in the Canadian area... please suggest me the best possible way to make a purchase.

I wanted to buy it from a shop... can you also let me know if i purchase it online... will panasonic cover my warranty? or the online distributor?

thnx

Well I was in your shoes about 2 weeks ago, luckly, I got my brand new DVX100B 2 days ago, from a place called, dvshop.ca Really cool guy too. He has a deal right now where he throws in a 2 year extended warrenty for free, and thats after teh 1 year Panasonic warrenty, and the 2 year one is good all over the world apparently.

Anyway scope it out, its the best deal I found in Canada and I got it in about 2 days I believe, real fast and real reliable. Solid shop.

Pay a bit extra, get a bit extra!

Pay a bit extra, get a bit extra!

The thing you have to ask yourself is - do you want service, or do you want to save a hundred bucks or so. I just recieved my DVX100B from Inland AV here in Saskatoon, SK, Canada today. They are great guys and offer great service! I ended up paying a bit more for it, but this way I will not have to worry about sending it anywhere if something happens to it. I can take it in to them, and if they can fix it, then they will, and if not then they will send it to Panasonic. And if I need a camera while it is gone, they will give me a 100B rental to use for no charge! If you want service, you might want to look at getting from where you live. I got a quote from a place in Vancouver when I was looking for $3999. Not bad if they will offer you the service. In my opinion, when your inversting this much $, its wise to pay at bit extra so that when something happens, someone is there to help you (and probably save you $)

As a sidenote, When I was looking for a camera (over a year ago) They let me take the 100A home for the whole weekend at no charge just so I could try it out and see if I liked it. I know that they will give me great service which was why I was willing to pay a bit extra for it. (I ended up paying $4065 Cdn + taxes) Its too bad it didnt come with the DVX book like the US cameras do!!!!!

You're in Vancouver, right? In that case I highly recommend ProVision Video. I use these guys all the time. They used to work for Matrix but started their own shop because they wanted to treat the customers better. They have decent prices and excellent service.

Note that the Canadian DVX package does not include the book, the DVD or Magic Bullet. I've been in touch with Panasonic Canada and this is what I found out:

Every country gets x ammount of money to promote their products. Panasonic USA has opted to put the book and magic bullet in their package. Panasonic Canada has not.

If you want to compare prices you can also go to either Leo's Camera ca or Vistek.

But like I said, if you're in Vancouver you should check out ProVision Video. I'm certain they'll match the prices and packages of the other companies and I'd much rather deal with them than Leo's or any of the other ones.

I can vouch for Leo's. Very helpful and it's best to get the package (inclduing pelican case, extra battery, ND filter, can't remember what else) . Just make sure you say you're on dvxuser, so you can get the 'dvxuser special'.

i can shed out a 100-200 for better support. but i can't find any prices online at Provision or leo? i will go down to their shop to find out..

I bought mine at Leos. If I had known about Provision then I would have gotten it there instead. I buy all my stuff from them now. they do video only. Leos is excellent on photography but their video knowledge is more limited. solely my oppinion. I'm sure other people think otherwise.

they haven't quoted their price on the website.... how much did you get it for and when?

Leos was the only place in Canada I would goto. DVXuser started in Vancouver and when i was there it was a ***** finding anywhere good.. Leos by far was the place for me. Never tries provision though.. i guess i left before they came full circle.

Leos does give a DVXuser discount though.. which is pretty solid. Ask for David.

I'm from Vancouver as well and i never knew about this dvxuser discount. How much of a discount do they give off for the dvx100B? Right now there selling it for $3,600 + tax would be about $4,000 roughly.
