Best place getting a HPX500?

I'm looking through my options on upgrading my camera outfit and I always get back to 2/3rd inch HPX500.
So I'm wondering, where did you guys buy yours? I'm looking for a shop willing to send internationally since I live in Hong Kong.
What's the best price out there?

Marc, I would mostly like look at getting one out of HK if I were you. Saves you a lot of hassle should you need to take it in for a warranty issue.

Outside of that I would look to Japan to buy.

Hi Noel,

HK is not what it used to be in terms that you get all electronic stuff cheaper than overseas. I haven't inquired about the price here yet but from what I know concerning prices of other pro camreas in HK it seems not to be the cheapest option.

Doesn't come the HPX500 with international warranty?
Btw... you wouldn't have any source in Japan or otherwise? Where did you buy yours and at what price?
I'd happily settle for a second hand one but it really seems to be hard to find one at all.

Hold that thought. I know a guy in Japan with a 500 that was selling, Ill ask him.

Still waiting to hear if he has it still or already sold. But I know that he is on a movie set atm so not exactly sure how long.

Very trustworthy person also.

I have a 500 that I will be listing up on Monday and I don't mind shipping to Hong Kong if you're interested. PM me if you would like.

A buddy of mine and I spoke about the same choice a few weeks before he went into production. The conclusion was: yes, the adapter will give you a shallower DOF and slight more of a "film" look than a regular lens on a 2/3" camera.

But at what cost?

A softer image. More blown takes as the focus pulling has to be perfect. And more time spent fiddling with the adapter than shooting.

In the end, my buddy shot his film on a 3700, averaging 20-40 set-ups a day. He was more than thrilled with the choice. He told me he wouldn't haven gotten half the film if he went with the adapter.

And in the end, people judge you by how good your film is, not by the DOF you achieve.

That's true, I'm sick of having to fiddle around with DOF adapters, it consumes too much time, especially when you have locations far apart from each other and you have to demount the whole rig again and again.
I figure 2/3" has enough shallow DOF and there is much more to a movie than that :)

Still looking for a good source, I'm curious if any DVXuser from the US has a source cheaper than BH shop? Would also be up for a second hand one if good condition.
