Best on-cam light for DVX

Hello all-
New here, just wanted to see everyone's opinions on onboard lighting. Looking for relatively inexpensive dvx100b light to follow around a webisode host doing interviews in low-light restaurants. I have some work lights but I think an on-cam would really do the trick.

Thanks

Hello AA,

Although it is very old school in the face of led or mini flourescent, my Pag C6 has served me well. It has focus, barn doors, dichroic filter, and you can run 10 to 30 watt bulbs in it. The standard 20 watt has a pretty bright spot, but it does run pretty warm. It has a separate 6v battery which not huge but still is a pita. You do get several hours of run on a charge no probem. You can't really run any light of your DVX, so this is a pretty decent option for a typical 3200k light. I will use it for a quick fill light with corded halogen lighting setups, kind of like a mini Arri 150.

I suspect if you need softer light, led would be a great option. Soft light for sure, but less range that something like the C6, and leds are easier to power. Watch for the color of the led, some are pretty blue, so color balance could be a problem.

Regards,
Grant

I can highly recommend using the search function in the lighting forum. Tons of great info there.
