Best NLE?

[EmperorHai]

Okay, I don't know if this has been visited before and I know this is highly based on individual opinion, but would you consider Vegas the best NLE for the price?

For me it's between Adobe and Vegas. I've been hearing tons of negative comments about premiere... well anyway... If I DO get Vegas I can get it from school for like $250.

So, is it worth it? Why or why not?

Visited before? Naaaaaaaaaaah.

$250 for Vegas + DVD is worth it, period. End of story. You will not get more bang for you buck anywhere else. Not even close.

I agree. Vegas is a really powerful, user friendly application that has a bright future at Sony Digital. It already beats everything else for for miniDV usage, and I'll bet we can expect big things from the next upgrade.

Yep. Vegas+DVD is a must. Get the +DVD version even if you never think you'll be authoring DVDs (or just not using this program to do it). The 5.1 encoder that comes with it costs $280 alone! And believe me, you'll be "needing" it sooner than you know!
