Best nikon Camera

I like the colors from my a7s, but of course I don't use s-gamut, which absolutely demands a LUT-based workflow because by itself it is awful. It's a matter either following the right workflow (which I don't want to do in this case) or finding the right settings (this is what I did).

I feel that once you're spoiled by Nikon's colors and skin tones, all the Sony profiles in the world just don't have the same magic.

I kind of like that the D750 and D810 feel like our little secrets.

A little hint I just discovered that doesn't seem anywhere on the web: the D810 doesn't shoot fullframe video, it's more like an APS-H crop. It must be the reason why the same 36mp sensor from the D800 has a much sharper image with no aliasing or moire, it's using a different pixel count in the downscaling process. Also another point, the S35 crop is perfect, evey bit as good as the normal mode.

Still waiting on a conparison to the D750 to make up mind on the D810.

It is no real secret, it been there since the orriginal D800 that the video was more like 1.1x or 1.2x crop (I think it is 1.1) because it is a small that is why people don't care to mention it as much as it is very close to full frame. That is why I said in my previous post with the cameralab review of the D750 he has a small crop of the d810 side by side and you see that it is a little zoom in with a little bigger image as it has a little crop.

Just saw the CameraLab review, great stuff! Just what I needed. The D810 is markedly higher resolution and doesn't lose much in lowlight performance compared to the D750, the 1.2x-ish crop doesn't bother me (that much! It does mean I lose the character in many lenses edges and get a tiny bit deeper dof, but it's still a huge frame though). The D810 seems to be the best Nikon image right now, the D750 does a tiny bit better above 10.000 ISO and has an articulating screen. I think I am keeping the D810. In my eyes it's just the perfrct resolution/sharpness, any lesa would be soft and anymore would be videoish and unflattering!

Does the D750 also shoot in DX mode? I remember the D800 being able to do so via a crop mode. I like the APS-C sensor so if indeed it can, I may be looking at the D750 as an upgrade to my D7100.

The D750 and D810 both have a S35 DX crop mode. The D810 is just as sharp as the fullframe and the D750 gets a bit softer in DX, and its FX mode is a bit softer than the D810. Either way you'll be very pleased with either one if your benchmark is the D800, which wasn't so good in DX. The D810 has a wonderful s35 crop without any loss in quality. The D750 also doesn't lose that much too going to DX but it's a bit softer at FX than the D810 and DX is a tiny bit farther softer, this mode also shows a tiny teeny bit of moire in very fine lines.

terozzz is the hack available for d5300?
I tryed d5200 (without hack) for a couple of days.... very impressive but....the battery doesn't last a lot compared to the d7100, could you guys confirm that?

guys what about the d7200 dropping in april? What do you think ??

Having a hard time waiting for the D7200 while the D750 is out now. Just Googled it & the specs if true are nice for video which I mostly do (120P would be sick!). If it also has the Flat profile, zebras, and similar image quality / performance of the D750 I'm sold.

D7100 was about $1300 body only when it 1st came out. Doubtful D7200 would be much more expensive but it'd be a few hundred bucks cheaper than D750 regardless.
